Nov 27: Post Thanksgiving
Is anyone still checking in here? With Carol still off-line I'm wondering.....
Quickly: Carol continues to make slow improvements, although looking back they seem like more. She's speaking, can talk on the phone. Still not swallowing or moving the arm or leg. She had a set back with a nasty bout of gall bladder issues, she now has a drain in with surgery set for about a month from now. The drain is to allow the gall bladder to settle down so she can have a laproscopic instead of full open surgery. She's due to move to a long-term rehab facility.
Foot is improving. Last X-ray showed wonderful improvement in bone density with the bone stimulator. Only recently have I been able to walk with just the cane. Will be sending back the scooter this week. Hurts a little, but I'm also using more. Now allowed to walk in a supportive shoe for a half hour a day--Whee!
Tired more with no down time at work, things are non-stop with getting info into the electronic medical records. It will get better--eventually.
Making jewelry for craft shows and selling at work in an attempt to support my 'crystal habit'. (That's crystal as in stones, people, not crystal meth!) So far have spent way more money than I've taken in, but hoping that changes next Saturday at the first craft fair. Another the week after, still some orders from work. Will be very busy doing this for the next few weeks, so probably no postings.
Had a wonderful time down with my cousins in Virginia for Thanksgiving. Took Mom. She's having a harder and harder time getting around, both the knee that was replaced and the other causing problems. I'm hoping this wasn't our last 'road trip', but that's a possibility.
Please let me know if you are still reading this. Definitely busy the next several weeks, so even less chance of my writing than usual, but nice to know.
Thanks, Laurie
