Oct 12: More general stuff

Just now coming off of being sick for the past 10 days or so. While most people at work have been, or are coming down with, an upper respiratory illness that appears to be viral, mine seemed to be worse. Just finished antibiotics last night, took two different ones before the second one seemed to kick in. Either that or the virus was passing through. But having asthma means that any URI becomes worse, so was also back to inhaled steroids and use of inhaler more frequently. And, of course, since lots more coughing >>> more chest pain. So the past week hasn't been particularly wonderful. I went into work last Monday, probably shouldn't have, slept for over 12 hours on Tuesday, which I usually don't work, then called out on Wednesday. Things seem to be much better, although my voice is still raspy and I don't feel quite back to my normal.

Otherwise things are just going along. No word about the jailbird. Things progressing nicely for the new tenant, KH, to move in November 1, although still going through County processes. Really looking forward to having that income, especially with increased spending to repair damage and replace rear door.

Meeting between all parties to establish the progression of the windows being replaced. The bad news is that not only is the bay window not possible, but even a garden window can't go in over the sink. While significant construction could adjust that space it seems ridiculous to mess with 80 year old and risk a problem. The good news is that with having to change my expectations, the overall cost has gone down $2,000. Some of that, however, will be eaten up by the other construction issues, such as tearing down all the drywall and insulating the dining room where the former windows were just paneled over. As anyone with a house knows, it's always something. And if it's an older house there are bound to be surprises.

Not feeling tremendously prosaic.

DF seems better since I stopped the regular walking, which has lead to my weight sneaking back up a few pounds. Hoping to re-start during the wonderful crisp fall days.

Kim and Rick, wonderful people that they are, come this weekend to help spiff up the rental apartment. Cleaning, including washing the walls, are essential with the hopes that re-painting will not be necessary. Along with that Nelson, my wonderful handyman, is taking on the task of trying to decrease the squirrel population making their homes in my roof. So far there isn't evidence of them actually getting into the attic, they have found several entrances into the soffet (spelling?) area under the roof and scamper about merrily. Despite my love of nature it is very tempting to start taking them out with a pellet gun.

So everything gloriously boring, just cleaning up from the recent drama. Boring is good.

Thinking deep thoughts for future postings....

Thanks for checking in, Laurie

when animals of the yard make space in my home, I try to strike a deal with them: If they pay rent, they can stay!
