Sept 13: It's me, so it has to get worse

First Off: I DIDN'T KILL AN ANT!!! There wasn't an ant--I was taking literary license for effect!

OK, now that we have that settled.... So, I cancelled the appt with the thoracic surgeon here, because it wasn't fair to take up his time when I am already scheduled at Brigham. He called me today with the results of the CT, however. There isn't A hernia. No, it's me, so it's TWO hernias. Between 2nd-3rd ribs as well as the main one between the 3rd-4th ribs. Well, at least it's known before surgery, instead of during (which is typically when I've saved my abnormal physiology to be found!).

I'm really feeling pretty good. Still have sternal pain, and still get tired. Sleep cycle still off and a real pain. But I can do a couple easy errands and activities around the house and be up for about 6 hours before lying down. Still mostly driving locally, hurts with tight turns, so don't like parking garages.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I walked outside for 25 mins. The chest tube holes are finally closed, still a little tender. Arrangements are all made for next week, I'll put up the schedule in a few days. Big news: I just signed up for high speed internet! Anyone want to come over and figure out how to hook it up for me?! Only way to get it done fast was to do the self-install, and buy the stuff and modem. Should have ordered it last week, but I would like it in before I leave on Tuesday, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for checking in! Laurie

    Laurie,

.... Hello, Glad to hear you are improving.

.... ref your internet -- Call Brian Eckert from morrisville, he is still hugely into computers and just finished a programing course, could not think of anyone better to recommend.

.... glad I could help with the ant story.... just keeps going and going, I was just making a reply to your email. Just for the record - from knowing way back when I could not
    imagine you killing it.

.... Hope your friends grandmother is still doing well from her accident.

.... Sorry but glad to hear of your up coming additional surgery. I am sad that you are still facing such a large issue to deal with, form the sounds of everything you have more then been thru enough. I am glad though to hear that it will be over by fall and you will be home for all the holidays and yes start next year and hopefully a fresh future off on great footing.

.... best wished, let us know when we are to wear our puple again, I've already laid mine out!

.... remember to stop and smell the roses on the way up -- and as cold as it has been getting - you should be able to see some nice and impressive leaf color changes! thank goodness you'll be home before any snow or bad weather.

Later Deneen [apparently the ant lover]
