Yesterday was the three week anniversary of the surgery, and all things considered I'm feeling pretty good. A LOT better than previous surgery. Sleep cycle still off, tire easily, but no longer napping during day. Had some sternal pain after washing my hair this morning, but passed quickly. Holes in my abdomen from the chest tubes still pretty gross, but improving. Neck holes look great--almost can't tell anything was in there.
Yesterday I walked for 10 mins on the treadmill; the speed was only 1.3 mph, so pretty pathetic. There was an ant walking along side who was beating me speed-wise, so when I got off I stepped on him. :) Will try to increase speed to a whopping 1.5 mph today. Saw my cardiologist on Tuesday, then saw the thoracic surgeon on Weds. They were both pretty impressed with the size and horizontal spread of my hernia. CT scheduled for next Thursday, so I can drive myself! Appt with surgeon on Mon, 11th with decision if he thinks he can fix it. If not, I call the thoracic surgeon at Brigham who already saw me. The right chest hurts even at night with lying down. Getting about two cards a day, which I just love!
Thanks again for all the good wishes! Laurie

9/2 Laurie,
Glad to hear still improving. I don't really feel that it was good karma steping on the ant just to end his out walking you!
keep up the outstanding work and what sounds like an incredable upbeat personality through all this.
Here's to an every improving road to a better life.!
